# Get Started Trading on the BM.XYZ Testnet Exchange

> Complete end-to-end walkthrough for new BM.XYZ users: connect a wallet, claim testnet tokens, and place your first trade on BM Chain in minutes.

BM.XYZ is an onchain order book exchange built on BM Chain. The testnet environment lets you explore spot and perpetuals trading with test tokens — no real funds involved. This guide walks you through every step, from opening the app to verifying your first trade onchain.

## End-to-end flow

Every new user follows the same sequence before their first trade:

  → Trade spot or perps
  → Review portfolio & onchain records

## Step-by-step walkthrough

    Go to [bm.xyz/trade](https://bm.xyz/trade). You can browse available markets before connecting a wallet — no sign-in is required just to explore.

  <Step title="Connect or sign in">
    Choose the method that works best for you:

    * **Wallet** — MetaMask, WalletConnect, OKX Wallet, or Coinbase Wallet
    * **Email** — Enter your email address and a one-time passcode (OTP). Privy automatically creates an embedded wallet tied to your email.

    New users see a combined **Welcome + Terms of Use** modal on first connection. You must accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy before you can trade.

    After accepting, complete the **Enable Trading** flow:

    1. **Claim testnet tokens** — your default allocation includes test USDC and BMX.
    2. **Establish connection** — sign once to create a local trading key. This signature is gas-free and does not move any funds.

    If you skipped the faucet step during onboarding, you can claim tokens any time from the standalone [Testnet Faucet](/onboarding/testnet-faucet) page or from the in-trade faucet entry in the navigation.

  <Step title="Place your first trade">
    * Pick a market from the market selector. Use **Favorites** to pin frequently traded pairs.
    * Choose **Spot** or **Perps** from the trade panel.
    * Submit a **Market** or **Limit** order.
    * Confirm your fills in the bottom panel tabs once the order is matched.

    Every fill is recorded on BM Chain. Search your transaction hash in **Clob Scan** for order book-level data, or open **BM Scan** for full chain data including raw transaction details.

## What testnet does not include

Some features are reserved for mainnet and are not available in the testnet environment.
